A Baby Shower and A Cake

So this is it. The cake I made for my very dear friend Stacy. She lives in CA and came home to Sarasota for a baby shower. What a great time we had! She had no clue that I was baking her a cake and the look on her face was priceless!!

Just playing around with the photo editor again...

(scroll down further for some up close and personal shots of the cake)

The shower was a huge success! It was put on by another great friend, Christy. It was a mini High School reunion in fact! We had such a great time showering Stacy with gifts, baby girl gifts!! What could be better?! I am thankful for that day! What a joy it was to make the cake and enjoy great friends!

Love you girls.......

Playing With Cuppy Cakes part 2

These were practice for that baby shower I was telling yall about. But I ended up
just doing the cake...that was enough in and of itself!

YUM!

It's fun playing around!

Did I mention I just LOVE pink and brown?!

Playing With Cuppy Cakes Part 1

Take an ordinary tray of cuppy cakes.....

Then play around with them on Picasa.....

Too fun......

I love these sprinkles! These cuppies were just for fun, I am trying to learn how to use butter cream. One would think it is easy to work with by looking at it. THINK AGAIN! Definitely going to HAVE to take a cake decorating class to
master this stuff!

Polka Dots and Daisies Cake

ebay 016-1

This is my second fondant cake. I made it for my sister Sarah’s jewelry party .(http://www.lilyflysgarden.etsy.com/)

ebay 015-1

It was my practice run. I am going to make a similar cake for a very dear friend’s baby shower. Shhh….she doesn’t know yet!

ebay 021

I wanted to post the whole process, but unfortunately the pictures of the process did not come out. It was a whole mix up with Sarah’s camera card(my fault). Oh well, more pics and the process next time!

The bottom was a two layer 9” round cake. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream. The top was a two layer 6” round cake. It was a sour cream cake with vanilla butter cream.

Ruby's Birthday Cake

Oh my!!! This was my first fondant cake and boy was I nervous!!

So many little mistakes, but in the end I was happy with it!

I found ribbon to match and everything! Handmade the tag.

She turned 2! What a big girl!!! I guess she loved the cake,
she kept wanting to play with it!!

.....cutting the cake.....

Yum....if I do say so myself! The cake was a sour cream cake with butter cream icing and blueberries, and strawberries. The birthday girl is a berry fan!

My First Cake

OK all! So this is it! My first cake. It was so yummy-according to my momma! It was a 3 layer, 6-inch round chocolate mayonnaise cake, with chocolate quick-butter icing! It was intended to look like a sunflower, but use your own judgement! It was very fun to make and started the "bug" to bake:)! I did not take pictures of the process but stay tuned for future posts because I am starting to use the camera more and more! Thanks for tuning in!!

p.s. mayo may sound gross to some, but it makes the cake exceptionally moist!
